I am an author, futurist and anthropological economist. I work to develop a positive vision of a beautiful, kind, sustainable future, to translate that vision into action, and to demonstrate it in my personal relationships. I live in Yellow Point, near Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada.
I am founder of the BC Sustainable Energy Association, co-founder of the Victoria Car Share Cooperative, and the author or co-author of ten books, including the award-winning Cancer: 101 Solutions to a Preventable Epidemic and The Climate Challenge: 101 Solutions to Global Warming. My most recent book is Journey to the Future – A Better World is Possible, an ecotopian novel set in Vancouver in the Year 2032. www.journeytothefuture.ca
I am President of the Yellow Point Ecological Society, an Honorary Member of the Planning Institute of BC, a Fellow of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts. I host a TV show called Change the World.
I am currently working with others to establish the BC Climate Action Network, the Nanaimo Climate Action Hub, and the Nanaimo Community Climate Connectors.
My other big project is completing my book on The Economics of Kindness. To this end, I am steadily working my way through 350 books on economics and economic history.
My lifetime project is to rewrite the story of who we are, integrating the perennial dream of a better future into our scientific, evolutionary and civilizational story.
